The week in pictures

Olivia rather likes Smokey. She loves him so much that she sometimes squeezes him. Poor cat.

Sonya likes to run with Smokey. He's learning to be tolerant of preschoolers. This is a rare moment when she's actually holding still with him.

Diane and Grant are visiting this week...Grant is staying with us, and Diane is staying with Nidia. Good times!!!

Paul is especially enjoying having his "big brother" around. He feels less outnumbered, I think.

Diane and Olivia did a little aerobics with the Care Bear (thanks, Diane :-)

Introducing....Smokey Behr

Well, the Behrends family has officially added another family member......Smokey Behr, aka Smokey. For some reason, Marty and Renee were thanking us for taking him :-) Anyway, the kids are totally pumped about it. Aaron and I will be pretty pumped if he uses the litter box right away.
***Update: He's got the litter box thing down pat.***

I wonder if they make "blue-eye reduction" on cameras?

Safe in Aaron's arms

This cat is going to get used to NOISE and confusion!!!

Miranda set up a little bed for him; he's liking this hiding spot

Olivia-isms

Last night Olivia and I went to pre-school open house, just to get signed up for pre-school for next year. She headed straight for the dress-up trunk and had tons of fun dressing like a princess while I filled out information. After that, we went to the cafe and had a little supper together. I honestly can't think of too many other times when I've done something with just her, so it was fun.

On Saturday, I jokingly said to her, "Oh, Olivia, what am I going to do with you?" Her reply was, "Just love me forever." It was so cute, and so profound in a way that only a four-year-old can be.

Also on Saturday, while my folks were here, she was asking me where Grandma's mom was. I told her that Grandma's mom is in heaven with Jesus, and that we can see her someday if we have Jesus in our hearts. She said, "I want to have Jesus in my heart." So I just said, "well, you just have to ask Him." So she did. She very simply said, "Jesus, come in my heart." It was really awesome. I asked her to tell Grandma what she'd just done, but then she got shy and wouldn't do it. Anyway, it was a cool moment.

Our weekend...Grandma and Grandpa, and the piano recital

The great, dirty outdoors

The girls spent a lot of time outside tonight, playing just north of us in a place that's mostly dirt and weeds. The spot would actually be a perfect spot for a garden, but the problem is that our property line runs right down the middle of it. Anyway, they had tons of fun making interesting (dirty) concoctions in the birdbath. It's always a little ironic to me that in our family, the boy would prefer to stay inside and play the piano or a computer game, and the girls prefer to be elbow-deep in mud or dirt.

Funny story

I just have to share this brief story...tonight when I was rocking Livvy before bedtime, I asked her what she wants to be when she grows up. Her usual answer lately has been, "a mother" (which always melts my heart, by the way), but tonight it wasn't just, "a mother," it was, "I want to be your mother."

Mother's Day gifts

Paul and Miranda came home from school with Mother's Day gifts. Awww....they were so sweet when they gave them to me. On the little bag that held Miranda's gift (the plant), she had written, "To the best Mom I have had." On the other side it said, "From your favorite daughter." Paul made the cool picture frame.

Little Ballerinas

Grandma Dorothy sent some fun dress-up clothes/barbies, etc...for the girls today. These two little ballerina outfits fit perfectly! Thanks, Grandma!

Field Day

AWANA awards

Paul and Miranda each finished their books in AWANA this year. This is no easy task, so I was proud of them. They've had to work pretty hard to memorize lots of verses, and also do quite a bit of written work.

No pictures, just a boring old post

I haven't posted in a while, but it's not because we haven't done anything! It's mostly because we've been doing too much! Last night was my elementary concert, which has been a huge stress lately. Unfortunately, I was a bonehead and forgot my camera. Of course, I wouldn't have been able to take pictures anyway, but I could have at least given it to someone who could have. Maybe I'll be able to find someone who took pictures so I can put them on here.

The finishing touch

We made these wreaths in MOPS today. You may remember that I was sort of looking for something to finish off this area on my living room wall (and I'm sure you've been waiting anxiously to see what I'd do with it...ha ha). Well, ta da! Not only is it pretty, but it was economical (thanks, Renee, or MOPS, or whoever paid for the stuff). Can't beat that!
