Monopoly!
Miranda bought Monopoly with her allowance money, so it has become the favorite thing to do after we put the "babies" to bed. Paul and Miranda are both getting pretty good at wheelin' and dealin'. In fact, Paul was winning tonight when we quit to get ready for bed. I'm not sure if we'll ever finish a game. Does anyone ever actually finish Monopoly??!!

Finally healthy...hopefully

We like to do our part to keep the Chase County Clinic in business:-) I must say we've had more than our share of sickness lately. It started with Paul, if I remember correctly, moved to Miranda, stopped on Olivia for a few days (it's all a blur--see picture a few posts earlier), and most recently it has been Sonya. I finally took her to the dr. yesterday, and she has infections in both ears. But today she's FINALLY smiling and almost acting like herself. This has been very exhausting. A couple of friends who have older kids have told me that this is the time of the "motherhood experience" when it's the worst. So, I guess, "this, too, shall pass" has become my recent motto. Anyway, that's what's happening here. I pray we are healthier for the rest of the Winter/Spring.

"Oh, hi, Mom. I was just bringing this Valentine candy to you to see if you wanted some."

Conversations with a 3-yr. old.....
Me: "Olivia, did you know that in two days it will be Valentine's Day?"
Olivia: "Ackshee, it's Pwesident's Day."


I'm still laughing. I didn't even know she'd ever heard of "Pwesident's Day!!"

Fun at the Big Apple Fun Center in Kearney

I don't even have a picture for this post, but, alas, I must report that our beloved Guinea Pig, more formally known as "Piggy," has gone on to the great cedar chip pile in the sky. She was something of a miracle, actually. For one thing, she was almost 8 yrs. old, which, according to Aaron, is old for a Guinea Pig. But the most amazing thing is that she's had a nasty sore on her back for several years. When we first noticed it, we stopped letting the kids take her out of the cage. We pretty much had a "hands off" policy from then on. But she was very well-loved by Paul and Miranda, especially. They took the news pretty hard--especially Miranda. But they've asked us several times today, "what kind of pet are we getting next?" Miranda suggests a lizard. I'm not so sure......we'll keep ya posted.

What Paul's been doing lately....

Yep, this is pretty much what Paul has done for a lot of the last week. Poor kid. He stayed home from school last Wed. through Fri. He seemed to be doing better, and then today woke up with a 102 temp., said he was dizzy, and complained of a headache. The other kids, except for Miranda, have all had colds, too. Fun. Anyway, we're praying he feels better, as we're planning to go to Kearney on Sat. to get together with his friend Grant and his family, to celebrate Grant's 12th birthday.
